Raise your hand if you joined the homemade sourdough craze during stay at home orders. Yep, me too. This is such a labor of love since it takes days and days to get the starter going, then the rise time for the dough is basically another full day. But if you put in the effort, you will be rewarded.
Patiently waiting between steps...
The bread came out crispy and crunchy on the outside yet soft and tender on the inside. The punch of sour flavor wasn't too strong which was perfect for me! I used my toaster oven to make this since my Dutch oven fits inside so perfectly, but I felt it was a cooked just a few minutes too long, so I would knock a few minutes off in the future.
The great news is, once you get the sourdough starter step done, you can make multiple loaves of bread out of it by just keeping it alive in your fridge (feed it once a week) so it does get easier on subsequent attempts!
