Orange-Chocolate Slice-and-Bake Cookies

Slice and bake cookies can be such a gift, but if you don't plan ahead, a nightmare! I like to do slice and bake dough early in the season, and then when it comes to the chilling step, I just stick it right in the freezer instead of the fridge.  That way, when you are ready for all the wonderful Christmas cookies, you just have to thaw, slice, and bake! If you don't want to freeze the dough, just make sure you leave yourself enough time to let it fully chill so you can make nice slices from the log.

This dough is based on a sugar cookie mix, so it comes together with just a few ingredients, but once they are combined, you'll never know this was from a mix because the flavors are so lovely!  I love the hint of orange to add some variety to the Christmas Cookies.

Keep turning your log as you slice so one side doesn't get too flat, and in no time you'll have lots of yummy cookies ready to bake.

Once cooled, I could not help but dig into these!  The sugar roll on the outside gives a nice little crunch and the dark chocolate is rich but balanced so nicely by the orange. They were so addictive and definitely on my repeat list!
