So I posted this recipe a few years ago after making them for Halloween, but they have since become a fall staple in our house because they are so easy and a crowd pleaser! This year I served them up as an appetizer for Friendsgiving since we eat earlier in the day. The photos here are with a donut pan but I've also had a lot of success making them in a Babycakes Mini Donut Maker!
First, it's just a handful of ingredients you can mix up by hand, no appliances needed! The trick to nice donuts is to use a piping bag to fill in the shapes so you get a nice even and mess-free shape.
My donut pans only have six wells so I have two pans to get things moving a bit faster.
The finishing touch on these is so simple, some melted butter and cinnamon sugar mixture. It might be a more rustic appearance, but they are delicious and easy to do.
You just keep dipping until they are all done, yum!
I love the cake mix shortcut for these because it makes it so easy to get a yummy breakfast or brunch on the table! What are your favorite cake mix recipes to whip up?
