Nutmeg Stamped Cookies

Our Rating: 5/5 (with adjustments)

Nutmeg adds such a nice fall and winter flavor profile to a basic cookie, and the lemon makes the flavors bright and refreshing. Just a few simple ingredients make these really come together in just three steps! The only adjustment I made to this recipe was to add a second egg yolk.  It really helped the dough come together and gave these cookies a wonderful richness.

Once I had the dough together, I used cookie stamps from Nordic Ware to make these look just lovely.  You can see that they held the pattern beautifully after baking.

I think these would be a perfect addition to a Thanksgiving table to give some variety to the pies for dessert, or of course you can use holiday-forward stamps to make these a beautiful part of any cookie tray as well.  If you want to make them even more festive, you could add some colored sugar to the last step where you roll the balls to give them some color too!
