Happy National Maple Syrup Day! While I think it's always a great day for pancakes and syrup, I thought it would be a great day to feature these maple flavored cookies as part of cookie week.
So these cookies seemed all good and dandy, and then I actually went to make them, and man was this complicated! These are mostly made on the stove instead of a mixer like most cookies, which did throw me for a loop, but it wasn't too bad. So we knocked one star off for complexity. The other star was knocked off because we found these cookies to be just too sweet. They are very tasty as far as flavor goes, but just too far on the sweet side for us.
I also made these using a cookie scoop which was smaller than the recommended three tablespoons of dough per cookie, since I like my sweets bite sized!
If you like very sweet sweets, I found these to be wonderful fall or holiday flavors, but if you are a little more sensitive to overly sweet things, you might want to skip this one for now. However, the uniqueness of this cookie makes it a great treat to put on a holiday platter!
